All is Not Lost

The world is a flawed diamond,
Incomplete are its beings,
Full of materialistic desires,
Of power and precious things.

Most dream of control supreme,
Childish wishes rule the lives of the inane,
The rulers enclose themselves in ivory towers,
While vigilantes remain a societal bane.

Images are ruined and hearts are broken,
Silence is best, instead words, Sometimes are spoken.

Who needs an image when there's respect to command,
Friends are there for a shattered heart's mending,
Listen more and speak not harshly,
For with a closed mouth, words need no tending.

For every mistake, we learn anew,
The dreamers, at times, are right as rain,
The higher the towers, the longer the falls,
Society's blight can be countered by the sane.

Priceless, still is, a ruby in the dust,
Sentient, we are; and we shall revive,
In someone, magnanimity and chivalry are still alive,
For sure, the world will survive.
