Keeping Up with the Times

Hear me, all ye faithful! Verily I say to thee - this be the last post upon my blog 'til I have returned with the spoils of battle, with honour and glory, after having done battle with the mighty dragon (semester exams). I was thinking of drawing up a time table to follow till the exams begin. So could study according to it. So I can cover all the topics that way. Not happening. Because all this thinking about time got me thinking. What if I could play with time? I mean its not fair! We're allowed to play with certain things - like madness, for instance; but we're not allowed to play with time. Cheap, is the creator! Well, he's actually being pricey (I stole your line, Piggy! And I'm not sorry!). He keeps the best playthings to himself. Nobody taught him to share or what?! And he tells us to share and be good. Now, time. Its a concept that takes some imagination. A lot of it. Just imagine, while I'm here typing this at 0923 hours on the 19th of May, 2009; its still 18th of May, 2009 elsewhere. And in Japan, its past 1000 hours on the 19th of May, 2009. Japan is living the future! And U.S. of A is actually living the past! He he! I know that thought is wrong, but it puts a smile on my face anyway. But this whole thing of Japan being the first to herald a new day is only because we have it at the eastern end of our maps. What if we had Central Europe & Africa at the eastern end and Asia at the western end? We could have the sun rising over Prague instead. Hey! We'd be the Western Civilisation! Ha ha! I'd like to see Muthalik talk about Western Culture then! See? Its all in the head. We don't have to worry about the future. If anything extraordinary happens, like the Armageddon, for instance, the Japanese will see it first and warn us. Absolutely no worries. Hmm. So I can actually live here in the future and take a plane westwards so I'll be travelling back in time and so I'll know what happens in the future and I can use this knowledge to "predict" the future and make a pile of cash in euros or dollars and come back to India and convert them to rupees and be a millionaire! "Nice daydream", my scientific side says scathingly and bursts my little balloon. Well, the balloon wasn't so little and it was getting bigger. Positively bloating up. Like my tummy. Time for some exercise.

Love Story

Where do I begin? To tell the story of how great a love can be,
The sweet love story that is older than the sea,
The simple truth about the love she brings to me,

Where do I start? With her first hello,
She gave new meaning to this empty world of mine,
There'd never be another love, another time,
She came into my life and made the living fine.

She fills my heart, She fills my heart with very special things,
With angels' songs , with wild imaginings,
She fills my soul with so much love,
That anywhere I go I'm never lonely,
With her around, who could be lonely,
I reach for her hand-it's always there.

How long does it last? Can love be measured by the hours in a day?
I have no answers now but this much I can say,
I know I'll need her till the stars all burn away,
And she'll be there.

Nights in White Satin

Nights in white satin,
Never reaching the end,
Letters I've written,
Never meaning to send.

Beauty I'd always missed,
With these eyes before,
Just what the truth is,
I can't say anymore.
'Cause I love you, yes I love you,
Oh how I love you.

Gazing at people,
Some hand in hand,
Just what I'm going through,
They can't understand.

Some try to tell me,
Thoughts they cannot defend,
Just what you want to be,
You'll be in the end.

And I love you, yes I love you,
Oh how I love you, oh how I love you.

Nights in white satin,
Never reaching the end,
Letters I've written,
Never meaning to send.

Beauty I'd always missed,
With these eyes before,
Just what the truth is,
I can't say anymore.

'Cause I love you, yes I love you,
Oh how I love you, oh how I love you.
'Cause I love you, yes I love you,
Oh how I love you, oh how I love you.

Breath deep,
The gathering gloom,
Watch lights fade,
From every room,
Bedsitter people,
Look back and lament,
Another day's useless,
Energy spent.

Impassioned lovers,
Wrestle as one,
Lonely man cries for love,
And has none,
New mother picks up,
And suckles her son,
Senior citizens,
Wish they were young.

Cold-hearted orb,
That rules the night,
Removes the colours,
From our sight,
Red is gray,
And yellow white,
But we decide,
Which is right.

And which is an Illusion.
